So aerobics isn’t for everyone. It could be that you hate aerobics but love to dance – well that’s great because dancing is another successful way of losing weight. Whether you want to join a ballroom or Latin American kind of class, or prefer something like disco or even street dancing, you’ll find that practicing your steps is a good way of raising your heart rate and toning up those sagging muscles. For a fun dance workout, see if there’s a Zumba class in your area, you don’t have to have a lot of rhythm, but the music and steps will leave you feeling energized and motivated to keep up with your weight loss program.
Although yoga may not be the first thing you think of when considering a weight loss exercise program, it can be very helpful in your
healthy lifestyle journey. All that high energy music in the gym may have your blood pumping, but yoga can help sort out your breathing and inner balance – getting your head straight! Breathing is vital to toning up your muscles, you need to be able to control it, and there’s no better way of learning how to do this than in a yoga class.  Don’t be put off by any images you’ve seen of people standing or sitting in positions you could only dream about getting into! Your body will become more supple over time. Find a class for beginners and talk to the instructor beforehand. Discuss what you hope to achieve at the class – breathing control, balance, etc – and how you can accomplish it. Don’t worry about what you can’t do in the class, don’t wonder about what others are thinking and doing. Just listen to the instructor and do what you can – and over time, as you begin to lose weight, tone up and practice the various yoga poses, you’ll find you will be able to participate at a higher skill level.
